Trigeminal Neuralgia

What is trigeminal neuralgia?

Never heard of this sort of nerve pain till my wife went to my dentist. She complained of a tooth ache. I wasn’t very happy because it involved a visit to my dentist.

UPDATE:   I came across an interesting article about High Blood Pressure. I purchased it because it offered so many promises. And it worked! More than that. .. So I started to investigate what else is there available. One of them was the TMJ remedy (Trigeminal Neuralgia - pain). While seeking a remedy for snoring they come to it as well. So I purchased it and sent it overseas for the real trial. Till today I do not know the results. But if they are as they say they are – it must create a revolution for every person involved. Based on the previous product I highly recommend your consideration – it is just beyond understanding. TMJ remedy

But my happiness level plummeted from zero to minus – God knows where, temperature of the universe -273K.

He had a thorough look, tested for various signs of pain and finally he told me: This is not a tooth ache. It’s trigeminal neuralgia. What is it I asked not suspecting anything horrible.

Then he explained that it is a pain ‘for life’ and only thing could be done was ‘pain management’.

Even dentists have this and there is not much what could be done about it. And we are talking about Australia, not some jungle tribe (they perhaps have better means).

She had done some crown work overseas and that could cause the problem as well.

Anyway to make this shorter and to get to the point – what can be done to get rid of this debilitating facial pain…

After several surgeries, implants, etc. we were where we started. She lost her interest in every aspect of life. Her facial pain was anywhere between 60-90 precent full time. No release.

No wonder it is called a suicidal pain.

Our sex life became miserable. That is almost non-existent, she told me though her pussy doesn’t hurt…

Anyway, the common treatment was $ 150 per consultation, take few Pannadol. Or; yes, I know, it is a ‘referred pain’ coming from your back, you have stiff shoulders. And endless costly bull-crap like this. If you are a sufferer it should be very known to you – all.

That is almost 3 years back…

Finally, for the first time I’ve got some news what can be done about it. And I want to share it with you in case you are one of those doomed women having this debilitating disease.

Firstly, there is no direct diagnosis of trigeminal neuralgia. It is determined mostly from description of the patients. All modern technology from CAT scans to MRI does not show any problem; that is most of the time.

My dentist told me he had a lady client she had the same problem. And a neurosurgeon put a Teflon inside her mouth and her pain was gone.

Now I sent an email to my dentist requesting further information. Especially how the surgeon found the location (where to put the Teflon) if no imagining device shows anything! He responded he would have driven a different car by now if he knew.

Anyway, once I knew it was a ‘Teflon’ it was possible for me for the first time to get more information.

Microvascular Decompression Surgery (MVD) came up as the best solution.

It helps about 85 % of patients for many years (10+). Some have to have this procedure repeated after 5-6 months.

It is intrusive (surgery) and of course as any surgery it may cause side effects. The idea is to put a Teflon padding between the nerve and the blood vessel and that will stop pressure from skull to nerve and firing pain signals.

Less intrusive method is by radiation but that can have more side effects.

This woman had obviously MVD and she is completely face pain free.

My wife is still overseas and seeking alternatives. That is typical. If you search on it you’ll find a person would go many years searching and shopping around in a hope there is that ‘something’ that would help.

There are others who swear by acupuncture. My wife tried with no success.

Trigeminal neuralgia happens mostly to women above 50 years of age.

I don’t know if this information helped you in any way. I’m not an expert on a subject. But I found it extremely difficult to get across any helpful information. That is why I decided to share it with you (I’ve shortened it significantly).

Please, leave your comments.
